One of the things that fascinated me most in San Diego is the very different flora. Here's the view from our balcony, which shows you this dichotomy of scrubby hills and wild looking palm trees. (Imagine: we're on the 6th floor. We are able to reach out and touch the palm tree in the foreground of the close-up shot. It's at least ten feet tall and swaying 3-4 feet back and forth during the wind storms we experienced. Freaky!)
